Joseph Banks Secondary College (SC) is seeking to establish a pool for passionate Design and Technology Teachers, to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.
Suitable applicants will ideally be passionate and dedicated educators, highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. They will provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their skills, knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Design and Technologies.
Suitable applicants should be proactive and passionate Design and Technology Teachers who are able to effectively teach across the schools Design and Technology programs. The College has state of the art facilities and equipment and offers a wide variety of courses from Years 7-12 including: Wood, Metal, Formula 1 Racing, Jewellery, Robotics, Engineering and other STEM related courses and initiatives, including the development of Mechatronics and the integration of new technology using CAD and drawing software to utilise 3D printers and laser cutters. Our Technologies team will be key contributors to the development of engaging courses for our Space Science Education Centre.
Suitable applicants will ideally be teachers who engage their students and challenge them to achieve their personal best. Suitable applicants will ideally display the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. Suitable applicants should have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum to develop innovative learning opportunities and be able to teach students of varying ability levels, differentiating the curriculum, in a highly engaging manner. As such, the suitable applicants will ideally possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, ideally having knowledge of and experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics.
Suitable applicants should be dedicated and highly motivated educators with an excellent knowledge of the Senior School Western Australian Curriculum, be able to deliver content in an engaging manner and be a highly effective team member. Strong knowledge and skills in the delivery of one or more Senior Secondary courses is highly desirable. As a reflective practitioner, suitable applicants will ideally possess effective data literacy and a capacity to modify their practice to meet identified student needs. Strong knowledge and skills in the effective integration of innovative and engaging ICT based technologies and cooperative learning instructional strategies is highly desirable.
Joseph Banks SC is an Independent Public School in the suburb of Banksia Grove, approximately 40 kilometres from the Perth CBD. ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
