River Valley Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Japanese Language teacher to join our team.
We are looking for a highly competent teacher who ideally has a detailed knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and the skills to engage students in learning Japanese. The successful applicant will ideally possess expertise in planning and pedagogy to deliver Japanese lessons, utilising student data to inform teaching practises and reflection.
The successful applicant will require the ability to teach Japanese across multi aged groupings from Year 2 to Year 6. As well as the ability to teach in another curriculum area e.g. Technologies, Music, Physical Education or the Arts.
River Valley PS is an Independent Public School (IPS) serving the community of Burekup. We are a small country school, with country values, in the urban area of Bunbury. River Valley PS is located 20 kms north of Bunbury and caters for 70 students.
The school opened in 1999 as a result of the amalgamation of the former Roelands Primary School (est. 1903) and Burekup Primary School (est. 1913). The school has maintained its rural background and has a strong sense of community and community involvement. Set near the Ferguson Valley in a unique rural setting, on the South West Highway makes it a desirable location to live.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
