Appointment Pool
Mindarie Senior College are seeking to establish a pool of highly engaging Human Biology Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise in the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements 2023 school year.
We have at least 2 positions available in 2023. Mindarie Senior College is seeking applicants who ideally have experience teaching senior secondary Human Biology courses, including ATAR Human Biology. Experience in teaching ATAR Psychology would also be desirable for one of the positions.
Mindarie SC is a purpose built senior college designed to meet the educational needs of young adults completing Years 11 and 12. At Mindarie SC, students will learn in a safe, inclusive environment that is supported by a mentoring program, and academic support strategies and monitoring, to ensure they achieve their personal best. We provide a comprehensive education with pathways leading to attainment of an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications or future employment. As a Human Biology teacher, you will participate as an integral member of the Maths and Science learning area and be responsible for supporting the collaborative approach to curriculum planning, providing learning programs to students suited to the needs of the school community and modelling exemplary teaching and learning strategies in your delivery. As such, suitable applicants will possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, ideally having knowledge of and experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics.
Suitable applicants will also be dedicated and highly motivated educators with an excellent knowledge of the Senior School Western Australian Curriculum, be able to deliver content in an engaging manner and be a highly effective team member. As a reflective practitioner, suitable applicants will possess effective data literacy and a capacity to modify their practice to meet identified student needs. The capacity to engage in the development and implementation of innovative classroom practices, including integration of information technology into the curriculum, is a requirement. Pastoral care also remains a highly desirable aspect of the role.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
