Are you a passionate K-6 teacher motivated to work as part of a team committed to promoting excellence in teaching and learning?
West Leederville Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool of enthusiastic, and passionate Kindergarten to Year 6 teachers with growth mindsets for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2023.

The most important factor in our recruitment process will be selecting a highly collaborative educator who has an impact on student outcomes and who can create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that is focused on every student achieving high standards. Suitable applicants should exhibit a strong knowledge of curriculum and pedagogy, and be able to demonstrate thorough planning and preparation that reflects this knowledge and formative and summative assessment strategies. You will ideally be able to demonstrate classroom management strategies that promote engagement and differentiation to support students with additional needs and students who need extension and academic challenge, as well as an ability to inspire students to develop a passion for learning in a vibrant, engaging, and supportive classroom. You will ideally have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to build effective working relationships with parents and carers in a school community with high expectations of school programs.
In addition to the teaching component of this role, we are looking for someone who sees the value of connecting with other staff and the leadership team to promote a school culture focused on continuous reflection, feedback, and improvement. They should have a positive outlook, value others and be active in promoting an inclusive team environment across the whole school. A proven commitment to taking on leadership roles, showing initiative, and being an engaged member of school teams is highly desirable.
West Leederville PS is a Teacher Development School (TDS) for Design Technologies, Digital Technologies, and Gifted and Talented Education. Demonstrated expertise in these areas and a willingness to contribute to the development and presentation of professional learning, host school visits and online forums, and contribute to these teams will be an asset.
West Leederville PS is located 3km west of the Perth central business district and was founded in 1898. West Leederville PS is a community of learners committed to best practice and visionary, innovative learning experiences that foster the skills, values and attitudes needed in the active pursuit of a sustainable and innovative global future.
Our original buildings are heritage listed and provide unique character with ten classrooms surrounding the traditional school hall. In 2010, a new library, music and art/science facility was completed followed by an administration building in 2011.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
