This is a fixed term, full time vacancy available for an initial period of up to six months, with the possibility of extension. Any subsequent vacancies the duration will be subject to business requirements.

About the role

Phases of capital projects involve external contractors requiring access to the prison.  Escort Officer’s facilitate this access and ensure that this is carried out in a manner consistent with the safety and security of prisoners, prison staff and visitors to the prison.

Fixed term contract opportunities will arise as capital work projects commence. As a result, commencement and duration of contracts will vary between projects and will be offered on an as required basis. No permanent positions will be offered after the duration of the projects.

Previous experience in a custodial or prison setting though not essential to undertake this role, would be highly regarded.

About you

The role can be physically demanding at times involving long periods of walking and standing.

All employees are required to undergo employment screening, which includes a National Criminal History Check and other checks that may be relevant to the position requirements.

Pool Recruitment

We are recruiting VSO Escort Officer’s for various locations throughout the Perth Metro area. Specific vacancies are not advertised and there is no closing date for applications. We assess candidates on a regular basis throughout the year and will contact candidates as and when opportunities arise.

If found suitable,  you will be placed in a pool in which the pool will be open for a period of 36 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Fixed term, full appointments may be offered as vacancies arise, however an appointment is not guaranteed.

The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. Applicants found suitable in this pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies at similar locations, with the Department of Justice for the duration of the pool.

Currently, there are a number of fixed term contract(s) available for immediate filling.
