The School of Alternative Learning Settings (SALS) is seeking to appoint two (2) dedicated and enthusiastic Administrative Assistants on a full-time, permanent basis to its administration team based in Padbury, commencing Term 3 2022.
We currently have the following positions available:
For Permanent tenure only
- 2 x - permanent full-time positions
All positions will commence Term 3, 2022
The Alternative Learning Setting (ALS) program was originally established in early 2019 to target a specific cohort of students who had demonstrated signs of physical aggression and would benefit from a short-term, intensive intervention program. The SALS delivers specialised activities and learning programs that build students’ social skills and self-regulation in environments designed to effect positive and lasting change in their behaviour. The program has the capacity to provide access to specialists such as paediatricians, clinical psychologists or consultation with psychiatrists.
At the commencement of the 2022 academic year the program has been consolidated as a stand-alone school. The SALS is part of the network of specialist schools that operate under the Statewide Services pillar of Service Delivery. Our main school office administration is located at the Statewide Services centre, in Padbury.
Several SALS sites located in the metropolitan and regional areas of Western Australia (WA), are already operational, and a significant number of additional sites to be established over the next two years across the state. Each setting accommodates up to 10 students who are provided with an intensive, individualised program of support while they continue their education. There is a strong focus on developing students’ social skills and ability to self-regulate. Learning and engagement is flexible, co-designed with students, culturally responsive and supports self-determination and interpersonal connection.
The Administrative Assistants will assist the SALS Leadership team with a wide range of business operations including preparing, processing and delivering incoming and outgoing correspondence, meeting minutes and agendas, maintaining various SALS databases and spreadsheets, coordinate/ arrange travel for staff, purchasing, payment of accounts, credit card reconciliations, checking and processing of professional learning applications, general human resource duties, creating and maintaining student files and information and other administrative tasks as directed.
The successful applicants will ideally be well organised with the ability to show initiative and multitask, switching from one task to another when required to meet tight deadlines and be able to maintain an effective record keeping filing system for corporate information and records relating to the school’s activities.
Applicants with relevant knowledge and experience in TRIM, Integris, RM Finance, NAB Flexi Purchase, Human Resource Management System (HRMIS) and Professional Learning Information System (PLIS) would be highly desirable.
School staff benefit from working in a collaborative team environment, sharing common goals and resources in supporting students, schools and parents across a state-wide service. Applicants that have displayed skills in providing operational support across multiple sites will be highly regarded.
All functions of Statewide Services support successful outcomes for all students. This is achieved through a focus on better integration of services with schools, students, families, and external service providers; supporting schools and networks of schools to deliver high quality teaching and learning in every classroom; and creating expanded opportunities for students to develop the academic, personal, and social competencies they will need for participation in the workforce and society of the future.
The successful applicants will work as part of the SALS administrative team, located at Padbury and may be required to travel across the state to provide operational support to sites. This may include overnight stays and air travel. The successful applicants will also be required to hold and maintain a valid WA driver’s licence.
