The Role and our Branch
Capability Support is a part of the Department’s Statewide Services division. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced online learning specialist to support our team to deliver the planning, development, and capability uplift of online systems across the organisation.
As Principal Project Officer you will implement and coordinate online learning initiatives in schools, regions, and Central Office contexts, including strategic planning and the development of online tools and services to support schools, teachers, and students in relation to effective teaching and learning systems.
This role involves partnering with stakeholders to conceptualise future organisation and system requirements to influence and drive change that aligns to the Department’s strategic priorities and meets the needs of our customers. This requires a sound understanding of the K-12 education environment and online learning practices.
In this role you will:
- Provide consultative support and training to schools and business areas;
- Capture and represent user requirements for online systems;
- Liaise with the ICT division to progress online learning system development and implementation.
Your ability to contribute to team processes, take initiative, embrace challenges, and focus on successful outcomes will see you succeed in this role. A background in project management and/or change management approaches would be beneficial.

Your written application will be assessed against the following Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated high level skills and experience in initiating, developing, and implementing successful online learning programs, projects, or strategies at school, region, or system level.
- Demonstrated high-level knowledge, understanding and experience with current and developing online learning policies and strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to provide curriculum leadership and deal effectively with change in online learning services delivery for K-12 education.
- Demonstrated high-level conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to develop strategic options and apply strategic thinking to achieve outcomes.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete
- the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
