Serpentine Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Middle - Upper Primary Teacher to join their friendly team.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have the knowledge and understanding of the effective use of explicit teaching strategies, as well as a willingness to learn. As a teacher at our school, you will contribute to a positive team culture and enjoy the challenge of working at a school seeking to raise standards and improve the educational outcomes of students.
Serpentine PS uses an explicit teaching approach focusing on four pillars of teaching: teacher directed learning, explicit instruction, moving children’s knowledge from short term to long term memory, and effective relationships with students. The successful applicant should be able to embrace this vision of teaching and learning and will have a passion for, and a sound understanding of, explicit teaching and evidence-based practices.
At Serpentine Primary School our work is underpinned by the following guiding principles:

- Gradual release of responsibility supports student and adult learning.
We are seeking a teacher with a determined passion for explicit teaching and sound organisational and interpersonal skills. Personal growth is a critical element for professional success and the successful applicant will be committed to ongoing coaching and development to ensure adherence to the school’s priorities and direction.
Serpentine PS has implemented the Positive Behaviour Support framework focusing on Respect, Responsibility, Aspire and Perseverance. Knowledge of and willingness to engage with these initiatives will be highly regarded.
Within attractive grounds and well-maintained buildings, there are approximately 200 students who come from a community with a wide variety of family backgrounds.
