Churchlands Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint committed and dedicated Network Administrator to join their high functioning team.
The role of the Network Administrator is to maintain aspects of the school network and database, provide network administration throughout the school including user access and general maintenance. Churchlands SHS uses the MAZE software as our administrative database. SEQTA is used as the Learning Management system and interface between the administration and the teaching staff. The successful applicant will be required to work in both applications and resolve systems and other infrastructure related issues. Additionally, you will assist in the customisation and adaptation of these programs to meet users’ requirements as well as the housekeeping necessary to optimise the performance of these systems.
You will ideally have a strong understanding of the various Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, and other enterprise grade infrastructure. The school extensively uses all aspects of Office 365 and in this role, extensive knowledge of Excel is required. An understanding of processes involved in uploading from a variety of file types into our database, as well as the ability to create or modify SQLs to capture specific data from MAZE is highly desirable.
The successful applicant will liaise with administrative and technical staff to determine needs and network requirements, analyse IT problems, and develop innovative and cost-effective solutions. You will ideally have a contextual understanding of how ICT is used in schools to enhance the teaching, learning, and administrative environments within an innovative school. Additionally, you will have a working knowledge of the processes in creating and maintaining a timetable and the ability to resolve problems as they arise.
The successful applicant will ideally possess the following key attributes; you will be knowledgeable, dependable, and able to prioritise and work independently, a team player with a positive demeanour, and be passionate about school community. You will also ideally have previous experience working in a large team environment and managing large number of conflicting priorities. Having exemplary verbal and written communication skills is highly desirable for this role. The successful applicant will become a key team member for acting on key strategic projects from ICT manager and working with key stakeholders within the school.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Skills and experience in administering a computer network and facilitating access to applications.
- Knowledge of hardware, software and other information technology resources including software licensing and Information Technology copyright obligations and regulations.
- Organisational skills with the ability to work with limited supervision and prioritise duties in a demanding environment.
- Conceptual and analytical skills relevant to computer support.
- Well-developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to consult and negotiate with users on issues relevant to network administration.
- Well-developed written communication skills with the ability to develop and implement user-training procedures.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Hold relevant tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or an equivalent level of skills, knowledge and experience
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
