Cecil Andrews College are seeking to appoint a dedicated, strategic and committed Deputy Principal to join our friendly team.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal, School Executive and other members of the administration team to provide educational leadership in the community by helping develop and promote the school values, ethos and priorities, and encouraging school staff, volunteers from the community and others to share ownership of the school’s vision and goals. We are looking for an applicant with outstanding communication and interpersonal acumen, who is committed to achieving exceptional educational outcomes for all students, including whole school policy development and implementation.
In collaboration with the Principal and the executive team, the Deputy Principal will provide educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school’s vision, business plan and strategic directions across the school community. A significant responsibility of the Deputy Principal is to embed and maintain aspects of the school culture that promotes positive relationships between students, students and staff, and engaging parents and caregivers and the wider community in the educational work of the school.
The successful applicant will ideally exhibit excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with students, parents and staff. The successful applicant should be to the fore of current research and best practice, with skills and abilities in strategic planning and instructional leadership to facilitate improved teacher pedagogy. You should possess exemplary leadership qualities and high level professional knowledge, in order to work with the school leadership team within an empowered school culture to lead and manage sustainable change towards improving whole school performance in relation to effective teaching and instructional practice.
To be successful in this role, it is desirable that you have the ability to manage the primary to high school transition processes and timetabling. You will ideally have recent and relevant whole school curriculum and pastoral care leadership. Student engagement is a high priority at Cecil Andrews College and knowledge of contemporary student services systems, procedures and protocols will be highly regarded. We are a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school with a strong focus on building staff capacity through CMS and ISE training. You will have the ability to work with and motivate multicultural and Aboriginal students as well as leading intervention with students who have a history of trauma.
Flexibility to work across year levels is required for this role. It is desirable that the successful applicant has a working knowledge of Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) requirements. Leading Senior Management in data cycles and analysis, overseeing learning area planning, monitoring and synthesis of results will be key to your success in this role.

Cecil Andrews College is acknowledged as a leading school in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) education and innovation. The College provides specialist programs in the areas of Australian Rules Football and Performing Arts. The College has a purpose-built STEM building with State of the Art Facilities and is a Teacher Development School (TDS) for Digital Technologies. The College provides a specialised differentiated curriculum for those identified as academically talented, providing them with opportunities for extension and enrichment.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings
- high level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes
- professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs)
- capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
