Armadale Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Teacher – Media & Performing Arts to join our friendly and committed team.
About the position
Working as part of our highly collaborative Arts & Information Technology learning area, the Teacher – Media & Performing Arts will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging/relevant units of work. The successful applicant should use their excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain a positive classroom learning environment; modelling high expectations and a commitment to excellence. The successful applicant will contribute to the positive culture throughout the school through engaging in effective instructional practice and creating a safe, student-centred learning environment.
Teachers at Armadale SHS are innovative and creative in their classroom practice. They use a range of teaching strategies to cater for student diversity, and apply the strategies of explicit instruction and curriculum differentiation to maximise opportunities for success. As reflective practitioners, teachers at Armadale SHS use data to interpret student performance and embody a growth mindset to support the development of all students. They use their effective knowledge of classroom management strategies (CMS) and the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework to create an environment where students are able to access meaningful, relevant and safe learning experiences.
Experience teaching in areas such as Performing Arts (dance/drama) or Media Arts (production/analysis, photography and design) would be considered as advantageous.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
