Burns Beach Primary School (PS) is seeking an innovative and strategic leader to join the Executive Team as our Deputy Principal-Inclusion. The successful applicant will initially be responsible for coordinating and supporting our Education Support Program in an inclusive setting.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work closely with the Principal and be part of a leadership team that values a positive school culture that promotes positive relationships between students; staff and students; parents and the school; and the wider community.
The successful applicant will be integral to coordinating the establishment of our Education Support Program for students with diagnosed disabilities in an inclusive setting. They will ideally have a strong understanding of developing contemporary programs and whole school approaches to supporting students with special educational needs. The successful applicant will ideally have highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to develop positive relationships with students, their families and school staff. The Deputy Principal-Inclusion will ideally possess the commitment and expertise to support a culture of excellence in teaching and learning in our inclusive school. They should possess excellent communication and organisational skills and have the ability to work in a highly collaborative manner. Expertise and experience in leading curriculum and pedagogy across all phases of the school is highly desirable for this role. The successful applicant should possess excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and superior analytical skills.
The Deputy Principal-Inclusion will have a role in mentoring and coaching of staff; supporting collaborative practices within the school; maintaining and implementing the school’s instructional programs; and supporting the development of teacher pedagogy so having the ability to analyse student, teacher and whole school performance to identify improvement processes will be highly regarded.
Experience in, and knowledge of, leading Early Childhood Education (ECE) including the National Quality Standards (NQS) and the Early Years Learning framework (EYLF) is highly desirable. Ideally, the successful applicant will display the ability to support early years educators to identify students at risk and provision support for those students within and beyond the school environment. The successful applicant will ideally possess the following personal attributes; you will be caring; optimistic; self-reflective; have a sense of humour; and possess a desire to see all students succeed.

Burns Beach PS is situated in the beautiful beachside suburb of Burns Beach and opened its doors to students from Kindergarten to Year 6 in January 2022.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
