The School of Special Educational Needs: Behaviour and Engagement (SSEN: BE) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic School Psychologist to join their dynamic and motivated team at the Midland Learning Academy, located in Midland.
SSEN: BE provides a continuum of services, working with schools and regional teams to support students with extreme, complex and challenging behaviours. SSEN:BE service provision is delivered through 13 Engagement Centres across the state as well as the Midland Learning Academy (MLA). The SSEN: BE School Psychologist is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team staffing Engagement Centres and the MLA. Professional leadership and support to the SSEN: BE School Psychology team is provided by SSEN: BE Lead School Psychologists.
The Midland Learning Academy is a small, specialist school facility designed to meet the needs of significantly disengaged secondary students, who for a range of psycho-social reasons have difficulty engaging with mainstream settings despite intensive interventions. Working in a small school environment, MLA staff educate students across year seven to twelve in a multi-age format. Students at MLA often present with highly complex needs and diverse educational, cultural, and social backgrounds. The SSEN: BE School Psychologist will collaboratively develop, implement and report on programs and individual interventions for MLA students, and support the Academy to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment. The SSEN:BE School Psychologist will confidently provide psychological assessment and consultancy services to MLA staff, and establish and maintain effective working relationships to improve student behaviour and engagement. Collaboration with School Psychologists, Lead School Psychologists and other specialist teams within and external to the Department will be a key feature of the role, to assist with the integration and coordination of relevant student support services.
