Mindarie Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool of Associate Principals for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which have and may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.
Mindarie Primary School (PS) is seeking an innovative and dynamic Associate Principal to work collaboratively as a member of the School Leadership Team, leading teaching and learning across the school.
The successful applicant will ideally facilitate workforce effectiveness by inspiring and working collaboratively with staff to implement Mindarie PS’s vision, values and school priorities according to our Business Plan. A deep knowledge of ‘Visible Learning’ is imperative as the Associate Principals are Impact coaches.
They should ideally be committed, collaborative and innovative and will have had recent classroom teaching experience in the delivery of whole school explicit instruction programs. We are seeking an outstanding practitioner who enjoys teaching and will be able to work ‘shoulder to shoulder’ with staff in the delivery of high-quality educational programs by modelling effective teaching practice.
The successfula applicant should display an ability to work across the school in the management of year levels, inclusive of the Early Years area of the school would be advantageous. A high level of skills in the leading and teaching of Literacy combined with a knowledge and ability to lead the school in the implementation of programs such as Words Their Way and Talk 4 Writing is desirable.
The successful applicant should ideally have experience in active promotion of a strong collegial culture of mutual trust and high expectations to lead the development of a culture of continuous professional improvement that includes the systematic and unrelenting focus on data to inform consistent, research-based teaching practices in all classrooms and specialist areas is imperative. The successful applicant should have a passion for the teaching and sharing of exemplary, research-based, innovative teaching, learning and assessment practices.
As Mindarie PS is a Teacher Development School the successful applicant should have the ability to work with a team to develop and deliver high quality professional learning, at a school, network, district and state level. Knowledge in the use of Webex as a platform for the delivery of professional learning is desirable. The successful applicant will ideally have experience in mentoring and coaching teachers to ensure that every student is engaged, challenged, and learning successfully.
As the Associate Principal, you should embrace the integration of ICT into the curriculum and optimise outcomes in literacy and numeracy for all students through ICT. You should ideally display a capacity to manage an extensive and varied ICT infrastructure and lead the implementation of the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiative at the school. Experience in the use and management of Apple devices is highly desirable. You will engage parents and the wider community in the educational work of the school, whilst retaining a focus on the effectiveness of the educational program.
Inclusivity and catering for differentiated programs for students underpins Mindarie PS commitment to the delivery of high-quality education for all students. As a large school Mindarie does have a high number of students with additional needs. The successful applicant would need to demonstrate the ability to support staff working with these students to enable full integration into mainstream classrooms.
Mindarie PS is proud of having a dynamic learning community catering for students from Kindergarten through to Year Six. The suburb of Mindarie is a seaside suburb located approximately 35 km north of the Central Business District of Perth in the Shire of Wanneroo. Mindarie PS’s core curriculum has a strong focus on literacy, numeracy and science. Specialist programs operate in the following areas: Science, Physical Education, Music, Media Arts and Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC) for academically talented students in Years 4-6.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
