This is a permanent part-time 0.75FTE position commencing Term 3, 2022
Balcatta Primary School (PS) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Gardener - Handyperson to join our school.
The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining the school grounds, gardens and sporting areas in a neat and tidy manner. They should be reliable, have a proactive approach to tasks and a strong work ethic. The successful applicant will also perform minor repairs and maintenance as requested as well as other garden - handyperson duties as required. Good interpersonal skills along with the ability to receive and carry out instructions is highly desirable.
Balcatta PS is situated ten kilometres north-west of Perth in the suburb of Balcatta, first opened in 1964. After reaching an enrolment of about 800 students in 1960's and 1970's, the school now has a very comfortable population of approximately 230 students (K-6). The school is proud of its heritage and its multicultural population represents approximately thirty five different ethnic groups. Balcatta PS community is very proud of it heritage and the important role that if has played in this multicultural area of the State over the years.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete introductory School Gardener training within 3 months of commencement in metropolitan areas or as soon as practicable for regional areas
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to
- commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
