Kalumburu Remote Community School (RCS) is seeking to establish a pool of Cleaners - Working Alone for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2023.
Suitable applicants will carry out cleaning of the allocated internal and external areas including emptying rubbish bins in the waste disposal system. You will open and/or lock the school, liaise with the Principal on all cleaning matters and record and respond to issues or concerns detailed in the communication book. You will maintain the school environment in accordance with Department procedures.
Kalumburu - meaning 'Path by the River or River Crossing' is the most northerly Aboriginal Community in Western Australia and is situated on the banks of the King Edward River beside a long, deep billabong at the upriver end of Malindjar Gorge. The nearest townships to Kalumburu are Kununurra (565 km S.E.), Wyndham (560 km S.E.) and Derby (650 km W) Access to the region is available by sea, air from Kununurra, Wyndham and Derby/Broome and by unsealed road depending on seasonal conditions.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete the Department’s online training in manual tasks and hazardous substances within three months of commencement;
- Complete Fundamentals of Cleaning training as soon as practicable;
- Complete any other training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment;
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
