Meekatharra District High School (DHS) is seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year through to the end of Term 1, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2023
We currently have three Teacher - Secondary positions available to commence as soon as possible.
- 1x Teacher - Year 7-9 SIDE Learning, Whole School (Kindy – Year 12) Relief
- 1x Teacher - Generalist Whole School (Kindy – Year 12) - Art, HASS and Science
- 1x Teacher - Year 10-12 Future Endeavours Program (From Term 3)
- There may also be positions available for relief work throughout and other secondary areas that arise within Term 3 for PE/Health and a Teacher for Year 7-9 SIDE Learning

About the Role
Year 7-9 SIDE Learning, Whole School (Kindy – Year 12) Relief (Immediate Start)
Team teaching in a Year 7-9 class who are immersed in SIDE learning for Math, English, HASS and Science (MESH). Positive relationships with students and their families as well as being very well organised will greatly enhance your effectiveness in this role. Experience in teaching ICT and development of innovative curriculum will be looked upon favourably.
Generalist Whole School (PrePrimary – Year 12) - Art, HASS and Science (Immediate Start)
Providing DOTT relief throughout the school (PrePrimary -Year 9) in the areas of whole school Visual Art and various other areas of the curriculum. Positive relationships with students and their families as well as being very well organised will greatly enhance your effectiveness in this role. The teaching areas of this role may be negotiable depending on a suitable applicants experience and passions.
Year 10-12 Future Endeavours Program (Start Week 8 Term 2 or Term 3 neg.)
Co-mentoring the Year 10-12 cohort in preparation of workforce readiness. This role requires the development of positive relationships with students, services and community employers. The successful candidate should be able to display excellent organisation skills and be confident with ICT. Knowledge of student pathways and the Duke of Edinburgh Award would be of advantage.
Suitable applicants will ideally have passion for teaching, be relationship focused and have good communication skills in order to follow school initiatives, including working within our school’s Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Behaviour Expectations and Restorative Practices Model.

Meekatharra DHS and town is located in central Western Australia, with a number of students and staff members closely connected to and continuing language and culture. The school has a Wajarri Language program and is supported by Shooting Stars, EON Cooking & Gardening as well as the Stephen Michaels Foundation.
We work closely with The Meekatharra Shire, their excellent Youth program, Mission Australia, Yulella Aboriginal Corporation, Youth Focus and other services in town.
While having the option to explore and prospect the amazing countryside and waterholes during the weekend, Geraldton is just a drive away (as is Karajini) and staff may drive to Perth for a long weekend or school holidays. The town facilities include a swimming pool, gym, squash courts, oval, Post Office, IGA, chemist, hospital, caravan park, museum, three pubs, three roadhouses, a golf club, rifle club and an airport with commercial flights run by Skipper’s Aviation. There is a junior football league starting this year. With most government housing on one street a closeknit community has developed.

Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

In the first instance, only applicants with teaching qualifications will be considered. We will consider an internal secondment opportunity for permanent teachers in other locations within the Department of Education who would like to work at our school for up to three years and retain their substantive position. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
