Wellard Village Primary School (Planning Name) (WVPS), a new school opening in 2023, is seeking to establish a pool of Associate Principals for appointments to permanent, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2023.
WVPS is seeking an inspirational and motivated leader ready to shape the future for the students of Wellard Village creating a culture of excellence in teaching and learning. You will play a key role, working in collaboration with the principal and community to create an innovative, safe and accountable learning environment, with high expectations for all.
WVPS will be based on a culture of powerful relationships with the community. Suitable applicants should have strong relationship skills and an ability to work alongside parents to support each individual child’s learning journey. The ability to establish genuine, positive and caring relationships with our students and families is paramount. Knowledge and understanding of leading Positive Behaviour Support, Social and Emotional Learning and supporting students at educational risk is desirable to provide strong pastoral care support and a positive learning environment.
As a foundation member of the school’s leadership team, you will work in collaboration with the Principal to develop a culture of high-quality teaching. Ideally, applicants will utilise their strong skills in evidence-based teaching, learning and assessment practices to lead the implementation of a contemporary school-wide pedagogical framework underpinned by the Department’s Quality Teaching Framework; Teaching for Impact. You should possess excellent curriculum knowledge and ideally knowledge and experience in achieving positive outcomes for students with an additional language or dialect (EALD) to ensure success for all.
WVPS are seeking instructional leaders, who can influence a highly effective workforce, creating high levels of student achievement. The suitable applicants will coach and mentor staffing in effective teaching practice in literacy and our identified instructional model. The ability to facilitate demonstration lessons and professional learning for teachers for our diverse workforce is highly desirable as well as the ability to provide learning opportunities for parents so that they are better equipped to support their children at home.
Suitable applicants will be well placed to lead a data literate culture creating effective systems to monitor and interpret data to inform future planning and meet the needs of our students. You will ideally be adept at analysing and reviewing school performance data to inform evidence based and well managed change, with a case management approach to student learning and academic achievement. You will work alongside staff to build highly reflective practitioners who can effectively measure their impact on students.
To be successful in this role you should display the Department’s Personal Attributes of Effective Leaders. You should be a highly visible leader who is committed to supporting the school’s focus on high performance and high care, creating a positive school culture.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs);
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment; and
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
