Armadale Senior High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to appoint to the role of Teacher – Design & Technology – Automotive Studies. This position also encompasses a role as Vocational Trainer & Assessor – Automotive Engineering.
Applicants who possess a Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation (AUR20720) or a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116) are strongly encouraged to apply. This is a highly specialised role. In the first instance, only applicants with teaching qualifications will be considered. Where there are no suitable applicants with teaching qualifications, applicants without teaching qualifications, but with industry experience, may be considered.
About the position
The successful applicant will join our Design & Technologies learning area, working out of our state of the art, industry-standard learning facilities. Our Automotive Engineering Workshop provides an outstanding work environment for students to develop their trade-specific skills to industry standards. The successful applicant will utilise these facilities to develop engaging and relevant units of work; establishing and maintaining a positive classroom learning environment; modelling high expectations and a commitment to excellence. Using their excellent interpersonal skills, the successful applicant will contribute to the positive culture throughout the school through engaging in effective instructional practice and creating a safe, student-centred learning environment.
Teachers at Armadale Senior High School are innovative and creative in their classroom practice. They use a range of teaching strategies to cater for student diversity – and apply the strategies of explicit instruction and curriculum differentiation to maximise opportunities for success. As reflective practitioners, teachers at Armadale Senior High School use data to interpret student performance and embody a growth mindset to support the development of all students. They use their effective knowledge of classroom management strategies (CMS) and the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework to create an environment where students are able to access meaningful, relevant and safe learning experiences.
Experience teaching across the full range of strands within the Design & Technology learning area would be considered as advantageous.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
