This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated and dynamic professional to advise and support the Executive Director, Statewide Services in the delivery of best practice services to public schools across Western Australia.

Statewide Services provides the services and supports required by schools to enable student achievement, with a focus on those students and schools that need it the most. It works in partnership with other parts of the system’s school improvement architecture to deliver a world class education system that prepares young Western Australians for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
As Principal Consultant, ideally, you will possess agility in responding to the demands and competing priorities of the role, whilst also identifying opportunities to strengthen processes and strategies. You will work collaboratively within and beyond the division to ensure that Statewide Services is delivering timely, high quality responses and support to both schools and the system.
You will ideally use your exceptional communication and analytical skills to research, prepare and review briefings, reports, and discussion papers for presentation to the department’s executive and the Minister’s office. A substantial knowledge of public education, together with a broad understanding of government priorities and election commitments as they relate to education in Western Australia, will be assets in this role.

- Demonstrated highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships and networks, including experience in undertaking high-level consultations, collaborations and negotiations.
- Demonstrated highly developed written communication skills, including extensive experience in the preparation of correspondence, reports, Ministerial communication, briefing notes and policy documents.
- Demonstrated highly developed organisational skills with a proven ability to deliver outcomes on schedule in a demanding environment and under tight timeframes.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- complete
- the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
