This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 2, 2022.
Thornlie Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English teacher to join their hardworking team.
The successful applicant will be teaching English in the lower secondary (years 7 to 10) in addition to teaching a combination of Foundation, General and/or Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) level courses for Year 11 and 12 students. Ideally you will have public school experience and secondary qualifications. The role would suit someone who is highly organised and has excellent written and oral communication skills. Teachers who can create a learning environment that is differentiated, challenging, caring, and creative and that caters for the range of needs so all students may achieve and progress are strongly encouraged to apply
The successful applicant should have the ability to work collaboratively to plan and implement effective teaching and learning plans. They will provide excellence in creating and maintaining supportive and safe learning environment and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. With effective interpersonal skills, the successful applicant will work closely with students, colleagues and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
