East Fremantle Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Physical Education Teacher to join their team.
East Fremantle PS forms an important part of the bedrock for our community; its buildings, location, people and their relationships make it a special place of excellence, learning and achievement. At East Fremantle PS we deliver the West Australian curriculum but our purpose is much more than this. We strive to provide a positive, enriching and engaging school experience for each student with a range of resources, programs and support. Physical Education is highly valued and the sport program encompasses the usual curriculum delivery but also fitness club before school and practice sessions before carnivals. Our carnivals are highly popular and supported by our parent community. There is scope for a teacher with a special interest in a particular sport to develop this at the school.
Ultimately, at East Fremantle PS, we aim to develop students’ fundamental movement skills to give them the confidence to participate in a range of sport and physical activities. This creates an opportunity for ongoing participation across their lifespan, providing them access to the many positive physical, social and mental health outcomes associated with regular physical activity and involvement in community sport.
The successful applicant will ideally be highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic in the promotion of Physical Education and Health within the school. The successful applicant should be well organised, motivated and committed to developing positive relationships and high expectations for all students. Knowledge and competency in the Physical and Health Education component of the Western Australian Curriculum and reporting schedule is highly desirable. The successful applicant will ideally work and teach in a team environment, be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives and have a strong evidence based teaching approach to this specialist learning area.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
