This is a permanent part-time (0.75FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2022
Weld Square Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint an experienced, positive and enthusiastic Cleaner to join our friendly team.
The position is for 0.38FTE for morning shift and a 0.38FTE afternoon shift. A job share arrangement may be available for the successful applicants.
The cleaner will be responsible for carrying out internal cleaning duties in accordance with Department procedures. These duties will include maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet and window cleaning, dusting and removal of cobwebs. External duties will include but not be limited to rubbish removal, cleaning of drink troughs, verandahs and undercover areas including removal of cobwebs. You should have a good knowledge of vacation cleaning duties such as shampooing of carpets, pressure cleaning of verandahs, window cleaning and other duties as required.
You will communicate with the Cleaner-In-Charge and follow directions to complete other cleaning duties as instructed. The successful applicant will ideally have good attention to detail and will be able to work well with others to ensure a clean and safe school environment. You should be organised, reliable and punctual, work well both individually and as part of a team, and ideally have excellent knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning procedures, methods, and practices.
Weld Square PS buildings including both the modern architectural style of the new Library/Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre and undercover area which also houses a Specialist Physical Education Learning Area and Canteen and the cluster buildings typical of the 1970s set amidst mature gardens and native bushlands provide the scene for a pleasant learning and working environment.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s online training in manual tasks and hazardous substances within three months of commencement
- complete Fundamentals of Cleaning training as soon as practicable
- complete any other training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
