Rossmoyne Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated Health, Safety and Wellbeing Officer to join our Student Central team.
This role requires the successful applicant to contribute to the welfare of students, staff and volunteers by providing first aid as needed and within their level of training, experience, the Department’s provisions on first aid in the workplace and the relevant Occupational Safety and Health Legislation. The successful applicant will seek to contribute to the planning, development, promotion, implementation and evaluation of schools health and wellbeing programs and frameworks.
This position will require the successful applicant to provide advice to school staff on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) issues, ensure records are completed and maintained for injuries, illnesses, incidents and accidents and undertake analysis of data and trends related to injuries, incidents and hazards. They will assist with developing plans to reduce the risk of injury and harm. The successful applicant would ideally possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work individually and with the team to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- well developed project management skills with the ability to develop, implement and evaluate health and wellbeing programs.
- knowledge and understanding of OSH legislation, policy and practices
- relevant knowledge and expertise in First Aid and associated qualifications
- well developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels and in emergency situations
- well developed computer application skills, including a working knowledge of word processing and development and maintenance of databases and spreadsheets

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Hold a current certificate in Occupational First Aid (HLTSS00027)
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
