Bridgetown High School (HS) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and innovative English Teacher to join our team.
We are seeking a teacher who is committed to achieving outstanding educational outcomes for students in Years 7 to 10. Ideally, the successful applicant will have proven skills or experience in lesson delivery which includes High Impact Instruction or Direct Instruction. Ideally, you will have the necessary skill set to teach both pre-General and pre-Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) English and contribute to the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) focus of the school.
Bridgetown HS is situation approximately 3 hours from Perth. Bridgetown HS is located 270 km south of Perth on the Blackwood River in the South West region of Western Australia and proudly meets the needs of local students in Years 7 to 10. The school is currently a part of the Fogarty Edvance program.
Our students are encouraged to become responsible learners within the school. We focus on developing their critical and creative thinking skills, as well as their problem solving skills, to become active and informed citizens of the future.
Whilst making our students' academic success a priority, we are also making sure their emotions, social growth and self-esteem are nurtured and encouraged. In addition to the Mathematics, English, Science and Humanities, Bridgetown HS offers programs in Emergency Services Cadets, Japanese, Woodwork, Metalwork, Home Economics, Physical Education, Drama, Music, Photography and Visual Arts. Bridgetown HS is focussed on helping each individual student achieve to the best of their ability.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
