Kalbarri District High School (DHS) is seeking an energetic and motivated individual to fill the role of Primary Teacher.
The successful applicant should be a highly motivated, student and relationship focused individual with the ability to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning experiences, across a range of learning areas including Languages Other Than English (LOTE). You should also utilise excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to work collaboratively to support our whole school approaches to explicit teaching and instructional strategies.
Applicants with primary teaching experience across all year levels, including Early Childhood Education (ECE), and experience working with students from diverse backgrounds in a regional setting are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant should create learning environments that are engaging, challenging and that cater for the range of needs which will ensure student achievement. The successful applicant should use effective whole-school behaviour management strategies to establish and maintain an organised, orderly and learning-focused classroom.
Kalbarri DHS is located in the coastal town of Kalbarri, 600 km north of Perth. Kalbarri is surrounded by National Park which gives us a unique opportunity to utilise our natural environment in our curriculum. Kalbarri DHS nurtures children in Kindergarten through to young adults in Year 12.
Kalbarri DHS has a stable, experienced, high quality staff, who provide a safe and caring class environment for children whilst presenting a comprehensive and challenging curriculum. Our students have access to computers and iPads enabling them to develop independent learning, research, presentation, and coding skills, within a whole school approach to Science, Technology Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
