This is a permanent part-time (0.4FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2022
Currambine Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and reliable Gardener – Handyperson to join their friendly team.
The successful applicant will maintain the school to the high standard to which it has been kept. In addition to maintaining and presenting the school grounds and gardens in an attractive, clean and tidy condition, you will ideally provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management. You will maintain tools and horticultural equipment in a serviceable condition and perform minor repairs and maintenance in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines. The successful applicant will also perform tasks and duties using safe work practices and maintain accurate gardening records.

The school has excellent facilities including four teaching blocks and a fully enclosed and carpeted undercover area. This makes assemblies and incursions comfortable, enjoyable, and relaxing. Within the undercover area is a school canteen, which operates five days per week and is currently run by the P&C Association. There are separate buildings for administration, the library, music and technology and staffroom. Each teaching area has access to wireless digital technology and an eBoard.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- Complete introductory School Gardener training within 3 months of commencement in metropolitan areas or as soon as practicable for regional areas;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
