Ellenbrook Secondary College (ESC) is seeking a highly dedicated and innovative Mathematics Teacher for appointment, commencing Week 7, Term 2.
ESC is an Independent Public School catering for students from Year 7 to Year 12 on a modern, beautifully landscaped campus. Located on the outskirts of Perth in the beautiful Swan Valley region of the City of Swan, our community is growing and thriving. Our College is integral to the development of the youth in our care and seeks to ensure our students transition into the community as active and responsible citizens.
The successful applicant would ideally be a reflective practitioner with the proven capacity to teach a broad spectrum of Mathematics courses from numeracy recovery programs through to Senior Secondary ATAR courses and be able to actively demonstrate their pedagogy has resulted in improved outcomes and progression for their students. It would be beneficial if the successful applicant can display experience with, or the capacity to, support the college’s explicit teaching agenda with programs such as Direct Instruction as well as concrete based learning programs like Scaffolding Numeracy in the Middle Years. Training and experience with Classroom Management Strategies would be preferred.
The successful applicant will have high expectations for all students, provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their potential and display a commitment to excellence. The successful applicant will be highly proficient in motivating and engaging students, and promoting a positive, active learning environment.
The successful applicant will ideally have the capacity to contribute to an effective team that collaborates with, and supports one another, and must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with students, parents/caregivers, and staff. The Mathematics Learning Area is actively involved in a number of extra-curricular, curriculum based initiatives including, homework classes, extension programs with feeder primary schools and a range of Mathematics competitions and online activities.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
