Comet Bay College is seeking to appoint one suitably qualified passionate and committed Dance Teacher. The successful applicant will ideally have experience in teaching a range of Dance styles, and preferably also have interest and/or experience in teaching in another Arts context – Media, Art, Music or Drama.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to further develop the school’s Dance Learning Area and will play a vital role in promoting the Performing Arts profile in the school. As a college we strive to ensure our students seek excellence and therefore, experience in teaching the WA Curriculum and Senior School Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) Practical and Performing Arts courses is desirable in helping our students achieve outstanding results.
Being a teaching practitioner that has highly effective teaching practices and a willingness to seek constant improvement in your own practice, you should have the ability to promote an environment of active and positive learning; and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their very best. The successful applicant will ideally have an extensive knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and a history of supporting and enhancing classroom practice across learning teams.

The College has a successful and highly competitive Australian Football Specialist Program. The Visual and Performing Arts also offer extension classes in Drama, Dance and Art to selected students in Years 7 to 10. We invest heavily in the social and emotional intelligence of our students through the year 7 to 9 REACH (Resilience, Emotional Awareness, Careers and Health) Program and our staff and are fully committed to developing resilient young people with a healthy sense of self-worth who value education and have the confidence to seek excellence in all aspects of their lives.
Comet Bay College is a modern, innovative Independent Public School that caters for Year 7 to 12 students and is located one kilometre from the coast in the vibrant community of Secret Harbour. The College boasts state of the art facilities that include specialist science laboratories, a lecture theatre, fitness centre, metal fabrication centre, a modern industrial food studio and graphics/mechatronics studio.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
