About the role
Australind SHS are seeking a vibrant and passionate teacher to join their Humanities and Social Sciences team in 2022.
We are seeking expert, passionate teachers of HASS with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. Applicants should possess the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant HASS curriculum through engaging programs that are relevant to Year 7 to 10 students' needs. Successful applicants will ideally have an extensive working knowledge of teaching strategies to support the development of skills and understandings in line with HASS curriculum expectations. Senior School Careers may also form part of the teaching load of this position so expertise in this area is also relevant.
At Australind SHS we are committed to improving the literacy and numeracy skills of our students in lower school to support their achievement across the Year 7 to Year 10 curriculum and to provide a solid platform for their success in both General and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) level courses in Senior School. We are therefore seeking teachers who can successfully show their ability to implement differentiated teaching practice within the classroom across lower school classes. This position could be suited to teachers with experience in upper primary school teaching as it could cover a range of options in Year 7.
Applicants with highly effective interpersonal skills that enable you to work successfully with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students will be highly regarded.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
