Canning Vale Primary School (PS) is seeking an inspirational, caring, connective and committed Deputy Principal to join our awesome team.
There is a possibility for a Term 2 start if mutually agreed upon by the successful applicant and the school.

The successful applicant will be required to help build upon our current whole-school curriculum and student support initiatives across the school. A passion for Early Childhood Education (ECE) is beneficial as overseeing our ECE program will be a crucial part of this role. As staff are committed to the ongoing development of a whole-school instructional framework, which is built around the latest in research, we seek a Deputy Principal who will not only embrace this but build upon it, working closely with staff to support them.
To allow students to achieve personal success, you will need to build upon our student support initiatives, which are centred on all students reaching their true potential and staff having a collective responsibility for the well-being and outcomes of all students. Teamwork should be at the core of who you are. You should have an affinity with students, engage in open, honest conversations with families and colleagues, and able to build productive links with external agencies.
Canning Vale PS shares our school site with the Canning Vale Education Support Centre. There is a strong partnership between both schools where collaboration, support and mutual respect are strong values held by all. The ideal candidate will ensure the needs of students are being met effectively within this context by collaborating with both schools, building effective partnerships to develop a holistic approach to learning that carers for each student’s individual needs.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
