Wongan Hills District High School (DHS) is seeking a Science and Maths Teacher to join their high quality regional school.
About the role
Wongan Hills District High School (DHS) is seeking to employ a dedicated and dynamic Science and Mathematics teacher for a permanent teaching position commencing Term 3, 2022. The role will consist of teaching science and mathematics to years 7 to 10 students.
We are seeking highly reflective practitioners who are highly motivated, student and relationship focused and able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning experiences. Our school has accountability built into its strategic plan with a key feature being school wide observation and feedback and also that staff use data to support student learning in each class. This role will appeal to both experienced and new graduate teachers who would like an opportunity to join our strong and supportive school. We have developed a school garden and aquaculture centre so knowledge in this area would be desirable.
The successful applicant will ideally display the ability to provide purposeful and relevant learning experiences that cater for different student learning needs as outlined in the West Australian Curriculum, employing research based high impact teaching strategies.
In the first instance, only applicants with teaching qualifications will be considered. Where there are no suitable applicants with teaching qualifications, applicants without teaching qualifications may be considered. In this circumstance, a fixed term appointment as an untrained teacher for the remainder of the 2022 school year will be offered.
We will also consider an internal secondment opportunity for permanent teachers in other locations within the Department of Education who would like to work at our school for up to three years, and retain their substantive position. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
