Mosman Park Primary School (PS) is seeking an enthusiastic Cleaner in Charge (CIC) to join our friendly and supportive team.
Mosman Park PS is co-located with the Mosman Park School for Deaf Children and provides a stimulating and safe environment where children have the opportunity to fully develop their academic, social, emotional, physical, and creative skills. Children’s’ individual differences are accommodated through an inclusive approach to education. Mosman Park PS and Mosman Park for Deaf Children have a combined school population of 473 students from K – Year 6 with a strong community focus.
The CIC ensures school facilities are cleaned and maintained in accordance with Department of Education procedures. They will organise ordered stock and cleaning equipment as well as manage hazardous materials, manage cleaning staff and undertake stocktake of cleaning resources.
As CIC you would be responsible for the locking and unlocking of the school, including setting the security alarm system, working a split shift - before school hours and after school hours. In addition, you will carry out internal and external cleaning duties as required, you will be required to coordinate and participate in vacation cleaning duties, which may include the stripping and sealing of vinyl and timber floors, window cleaning, shampooing of carpets, pressure cleaning of veranda’s and undercover areas, and other such duties as required. You will also be responsible for highlighting issues and concerns on behalf of cleaners.
As the successful applicant you should have good communication and interpersonal skills and preferably, experience in supervising staff. You should be a highly motivated and proactive person who takes pride in being responsible for providing a high standard of cleanliness within the workplace in order to provide a visually pleasing and safe learning environment for our students, staff and visitors to the school.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete the Department’s online training in manual tasks and hazardous substances within three months of commencement
- Complete Fundamentals of Cleaning training as soon as practicable
- Complete any other training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
