WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is seeking District Medical Officers – Non-Procedural to be placed in a Pool - Exmouth Hospital.

This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Term Part Time and Sessional appointments for 5 years with the possibility for extension(s).

Position Profile:  The District Medical Officer (DMO) Non-Procedural is responsible for providing comprehensive medical and community health services to the Gascoyne Region, based in Exmouth Hospital and serving their associated remote communities. The DMO is likely to encounter a broad range of clinical presentations which can be both uniquely challenging and rewarding both to an aspiring and an experienced Rural Generalist. DMO contributes to comprehensive patient care in the Emergency Department and General Ward. The position provides the successful candidate ample opportunity to demonstrate clinical leadership, to undertake supervision of Residents and Medical Students, to receive training and be supported in continuing their professional development.

About the Region: The Midwest comprises the western region in the middle of Western Australia and stretches from the Indian Ocean in the west and bordered by the Pilbara in the north, the Wheatbelt in the south and Goldfields in the south and east. It incorporates four health districts - Gascoyne, Geraldton, Midwest and Murchison. It covers more than 600,000 square kilometres, nearly one quarter of the State, with its population concentrated along the coast. Exmouth is a booming tourism centre. It has unique beaches, pristine gorges and stunning diving, fishing and surfing areas, combined with the town's proximity to commercial fishing and resources projects which are all driving its growth. A 13-hour drive or two-hour flight from Perth, Exmouth is the gateway to the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Marine Park, the world’s largest fringing reef.
