About us
Children with special learning needs attend education support centres or schools. Some offer early intervention programs, specialist programs for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other programs for children with more specific needs:
- Education support centres are located alongside primary and secondary schools. In addition to the individualised programs delivered by specialist staff, children benefit by interacting and participating in programs with their mainstream school peers.
- Education support schools are separate primary and secondary schools that have on-site access to multi-disciplinary teams including nursing and therapy staff, and specialist facilities including therapy rooms, swimming pools and ‘access all’ playgrounds.
- Secondary education support schools and centres have strong links with employers, training organisations and the Disability Services Commission to ensure children transition from school to further training or work is as smooth as possible.
Education Support Schools and Centres can be either Primary, Secondary or Kindergarten to Year 12. You can search education support centres and schools on Schools Online.
