Albany Senior High School (SHS) is an Independent Public School (IPS) seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Information Resources Officer (IRO).
As the successful applicant, you will supervise the day-to day operation of the library, administer library systems and ensure library and whole school resource records are up-to date, maintained and are accessible to students, staff and parents at all times. The IRO will provide training, support and advice to staff and students on desktop and software applications and provide a support service which ensures library digital technology and resources are ready for teacher and student use.
In this role you will assist in preparing and monitoring the library budget and make recommendations for new library resources and technologies. You will be required to supervise small groups of students outside lesson times or in learning activities relating to the library, and will assist students to select appropriate materials from the library and access school resources. The IRO will provide support to staff to access and utilise library resources to effectively deliver the curriculum.
A significant part of the role of the IRO will be to work alongside the Leadership Team to develop a focussed vision for the library that aligns with the School Business Plan.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively liaise to staff at all levels and apply customer service principles and practices.
- Sound analytical skills and the ability to resolve basic information and communication technology problems.
- Ability to use computers and a range of information management systems and application software packages including databases, spread-sheets and word processing.
- Sound knowledge, skills and experience in library procedures using automated library systems and the use of multimedia and audio-visual equipment.
- Sound organisational skills and the ability to use initiative and work with minimum supervision.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
