This is a twelve (12) month fixed term full-time position commencing Term 1, 2022.
Geraldton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a Deputy Principal who is a passionate and dynamic leader. This is an opportunity to be part of a committed and dedicated school executive team and play a pivotal role in the Fogarty EDvance school transformation program.
As the successful Deputy Principal, you will be required to work with all members of the school staff, focusing on curriculum, student progress and achievement and play an integral role in supporting the continued implementation of the schools Instructional Model which underpins the focus on Quality Teaching. The successful applicant will lead staff to reflect and assess the effectiveness of their teaching practice, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational leadership which enables students to achieve their highest potential
The successful applicant will work as a member of the Executive Team, Senior Leadership Team, school staff and community to ensure positive progress and outcomes for all students. The successful applicant should have a strong capacity to develop others and the ability to work with others to ensure quality procedures. You will also analyse and review school performance data and lines of inquiry processes to inform evidence based and well managed change with a case management approach to student learning and academic achievement.
A key aspect of the Deputy Principal role is to promote positive relationships between students, students and staff and engaging parents, caregivers and the wider community in the educational work of the school. You should have high professional knowledge of effective case management, monitoring and tracking of students that includes a demonstrated ability in leading effective intervention and reporting strategies. You will ideally have strong experience in leading to improve learning outcomes and be able to work through complex situations individually and in a team environment.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
