Merredin College is seeking a collaborative, dedicated and highly motivated Mathematics Teacher to join our Independent Public School.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally be committed to maximising our students’ potential and providing a relevant and engaging learning experience. The successful applicant will be a part of the Mathematics Learning Area and be responsible for planning and developing the Mathematics curriculum in conjunction with the Mathematics team. It is desirable that the successful applicant has experience in teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and General Mathematic subjects. The successful applicant should have sound knowledge of the requirements of the Western Australian Curriculum and have a keen passion to extend and engage our students.
We are looking for a teacher with strong teaching and classroom management skills, and who can develop good relationships with all students and engage them in highly effective learning. You will incorporate a diverse range of thinking strategies into the learning program. In addition, you should be able to work in a team environment, engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks.
The successful applicant will ideally be student and relationship focused, enthusiastic, innovative and motivated with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. As part of a dedicated team you will be required to develop, review and deliver Mathematics curriculum. You should engage in ongoing self-reflection and assess the effectiveness of your practice to create an environment conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are purposeful and relevant, catering for different student learning needs.
Merredin College is located 256 kilometres east of Perth in the Central Wheatbelt. Merredin College is a lighthouse rural school providing a high quality educational program for 600 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. We are unique because our students can remain in the safety of the community in which they were born and at the same school for their entire education.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
