About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our Aboriginal students whilst building a positive relationship with the local community.
In this role you will be a highly valued member of our staff. As a culturally responsive and inclusive school, one of your key priorities will include providing all students with opportunities to achieve success through education. We will support you with additional professional development across various teaching areas and look for your commitment to professional development to further develop your teaching practices.
You will be required to plan, teach and assess health and physical education curriculum, as well as plan and organise various sport carnivals and events.
The Ideal Teacher
The successful applicant will ideally be able to work collaboratively with all staff and build positive relationships with carers and families. You will ideally have outstanding classroom and behaviour management skills as well as highly developed interpersonal and Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills.
The successful applicant will ideally possess the ability to create a safe, calm, effective, engaging and inclusive learning environment. You should have an understanding of appropriate assessments and be able to use data to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching programs. You will establish curriculum program in literacy and numeracy based on existing data sets.
You will ideally be a team player who is willing to implement our school wide programs and initiatives. Sound knowledge of high impact instruction, positive behaviour approaches as well as trauma informed practices is highly desirable.
Our students are excellent at all sports. There are many opportunities to build leadership skills in this position including organising sporting events and carnivals.

Mullewa DHS is a vibrant school. Our outstanding team of Teachers, Aboriginal education workers and experienced education assistants provide engaging classes and programs for our students from Kindergarten through to Year 12. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
