Wyalkatchem District High School (DHS) is seeking an English and Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) Teacher to join their high quality regional school.

The successful applicant will ideally be a conscientious and dedicated Secondary or Primary Teacher with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning supported by technology. They should be actively involved both within the school and wider community, highly reflective about their teaching practice and committed to evidence-based decision making and differentiation. The successfula applicant will ideally have proven knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and experience in delivering positive outcomes for students – whether on practicum or from past teaching experience. A capacity and willingness to lead the development and delivery of school programs and priorities in the areas of English and HASS is highly desirable.
Successful applicants should possess the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant curriculum using a positive, student-focused approach, and have proven success working with students across a range of ability levels, including multi-age/split year groups. Strong use of communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a willingness to liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks to establish strong community partnerships, is highly desirable. The successful applicant will ideally be relationship focused with a consistent and transparent classroom management approach. They should be enthusiastic, seek opportunities for innovation and leadership, and have the proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

The Location and Community
Wyalkatchem DHS is located in the small town of Wyalkatchem, 205km north east of Perth in the Central Wheatbelt. Catering for children from Kindergarten to Year 10, our school develops the learning, social and personal skills and abilities of children, enabling them to maximise their potential in further education and the workplace and to become active, effective, confident and valued participants in society.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
