Geraldton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative Manager Corporate Services (MCS) to join their executive leadership team.
As an integral part of the School’s senior leadership team, you should ideally be a strategic thinker with the desire to make a real difference to the School and community through innovation, leadership and excellence in the development of corporate business systems and service provision.
Utilising your outstanding financial management skills and strategic leadership, you will be responsible for the development and deployment of physical and financial resources in delivering services for the School community. Modelling your exemplary leadership, professionalism and commitment to exceptional customer service, you and your team will significantly contribute to student outcomes and a positive School experience.
The MCS will work with the Principal to ensure occupational health and safety systems management, compliance and implementation are in place to maintain a safe working environment for staff and students. As MCS your high level of leadership will build capacity at all levels as you support and work collaboratively with staff ensuring the Professional Learning and Performance Management Strategies empower all staff to realise their potential whilst improving their accountability to the School’s Business Plan objectives.
The successful applicant will ideally be a proven high-performer with successful leadership and management experience and strong professional knowledge. They will ideally have the capability and commitment required to build and sustain a culture of excellence in all aspects of school operations. Geraldton SHS has a long and well documented history having commenced in 1939. Since then it has been at the forefront of providing quality secondary education to students from all over Western Australia in the Midwest Region.
Located next to the city centre in a parkland environment, the school is an architectural highlight of Geraldton. It caters for students in Years 7 to 12 and offers a diverse range of academic, vocational, social and service programs for its student population of around 1000 students.
Students attending the school come from Geraldton plus surrounding towns and farming regions. Students are able to board at the adjacent Geraldton Residential College. The school is served by an extensive local bus service.
The school is highly regarded within the Geraldton community. Meaningful relationships between staff, students and families are considered vital to the ongoing success of the school.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- High-level human resource management skills, including the ability to develop and/or apply human resource management practices and processes.
- High-level financial management skills, including budget preparation and the ability to understand and apply financial and accounting practices and procedures.
- High-level written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Experience in the application of high-level customer service principles and practices.
- Experience in effective leadership of a team.
- Ability to provide high-level human resource consultancy and financial advice in the development, implementation and management of business and marketing plans.
- Well developed problem solving and risk management skills, including the ability to provide innovative solutions to strategic and complex problems and issues.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
