Churchlands Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a permanent full-time Modern History teacher commencing Term 1, 2022
To be successful to this role, you will be a passionate and experienced ATAR Modern History teacher who engages students in their learning, has high expectations of all students and contributes to the development of well-rounded students. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with other members of the Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) team and wider school community to achieve planned outcomes. In 2022 the role will involve teaching Year 12 Modern History and Lower School HASS classes.
The HASS department at Churchlands SHS prides itself on a strong sense of collegiality and collaboration. Due to the size of the school, we are able to offer a broad range of HASS Subjects in Senior School and also deliver a number of electives in Lower School. Churchlands SHS is also uniquely placed to offer its staff a wide range of professional development and leadership opportunities. HASS teachers consistently engage in reflective dialogue and support a school wide approach to classroom observations to achieve continuous improvement in their teaching and learning practices. The Microsoft Office 365 Suite, especially OneNote, is used extensively by both teachers and students at Churchlands Senior High School.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
