Appointment Pool
Geraldton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Cleaners for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.
We are seeking reliable and hardworking Cleaners with effective communication skills to work collaboratively as part of our friendly cleaning team. Cleaners play a vital role at our school by creating and maintaining a clean, safe environment for our staff and students to enjoy.
Suitable applicants will be required to carry out internal cleaning duties, in accordance with the Department’s procedures. The duties include the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, cleaning furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting, rubbish removal, drinking troughs and other items of general cleaning.
In addition to this, suitable applicants would also carry out external cleaning duties, including the cleaning of verandas and covered areas, cleaning of drinking troughs, window cleaning, removal of cobwebs, other general cleaning and other such duties as required by the Cleaner In Charge. Vacation cleaning duties will need to be completed and include shampooing carpets and pressure cleaning various areas.
To be suitable for this role, you will ideally have good attention to detail and be able to work well both individually and as part of a team to ensure a clean and safe school environment. It is highly desirable that you will be organised, honest, reliable and punctual and have excellent knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning procedures, methods and practices.
Geraldton SHS caters for students in Years 7 to 12, enabling young people to complete their entire secondary education at our school.

Eligibility and Training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete the Department’s online training in manual tasks and hazardous substances within three months of commencement;
- Complete Fundamentals of Cleaning training as soon as practicable;
- Complete any other training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS
