Appointment Pool
Newborough Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Cleaners for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.
As a Cleaner at Newborough PS, suitable applicants will ideally be conscientious workers, having knowledge of Department of Education cleaning processes and cleaning equipment. You would carry out internal cleaning duties under the direction of the Cleaner in Charge, including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting, rubbish removal, and other items of general cleaning. You will ideally have the ability to use a range of equipment, including polishers, vacuum cleaners, pressure cleaners, etc. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and cleaning equipment, including operating and safety instructions, is highly desirable. The ability to interpret Material Safety Data Sheets is also required.
In addition to this, you would also carry out external cleaning duties, including the cleaning of wooden verandas and covered areas, cleaning of drinking troughs, removal of cobwebs and other general cleaning duties as required. Suitable applicants should be able to communicate effectively, as well as be able to work as a valued member of a team.
Newborough PS became an Independent Public School in 2012. The school has had a proud history since it was founded in 1955. We currently have around 370 students and our buildings include a purpose built library and Science/Music block, an undercover area that is fully enclosed, excellent early childhood facilities and air conditioned classrooms. Expansive lawn areas, large trees and modern playground equipment, are features of the school environment.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete the Department’s online training in manual tasks and hazardous substances within three months of commencement
- Complete Fundamentals of Cleaning training as soon as practicable
- Complete any other training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS
