Mount Tarcoola Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Primary Teacher to join their friendly school.
The Ideal Teacher
The successful applicant will ideally be committed to reflective classroom teaching practices and actively participate in a school-wide, self-reflective culture of professional growth focussed on improving classroom teaching. All educators take a personal and collective responsibility for improving student learning and wellbeing and work together and learn from each other’s practices.
The successful applicant will ideally promote, model and maintain high expectations and adhere to whole school approaches that are evidence based and supported by research. These include; Teachwell Full Participation Tactics and Rosenshines’ 10 Principles of Explicit Instruction, PLD Phonics, Scarborough’s Reading Rope of Comprehension and the Big 6 of Reading, Talk 4 Writing (Years 1 and 2) and 7 Steps to Writing (Years 3 to 6).
The ability to establish and maintain genuine, positive and caring relationships with our students will be highly regarded. Our pastoral care whole school approaches will ensure each student is engaged, belongs and feels connected to our school. Knowledge, understanding and experience in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and the Zones of Regulation is desirable. We work as a team to support our students to successfully develop their dispositions for learning such as curiosity, openness, optimism, resilience, concentration and, critical and creative thinking.
Our School
Mount Tarcoola PS caters for Kindergarten to Year 6 students living in the southern suburbs of Geraldton and the Greenough hinterland.
We are a warm and welcoming school where manners, behaviour and dress standards are highly regarded. Our teaching staff are highly experienced, with the large majority having taught for ten years or more.
Mount Tarcoola PS celebrates its multicultural diversity. Our enrolment encompasses many different nationalities and we have an indigenous enrolment of approximately 20%. Children with special needs (predominantly Autism) also form a significant part of our enrolment
Mount Tarcoola PS will be seeking to expand its reputation for excellence through quality teaching and learning programs. Educators at Mount Tarcoola PS adopt high impact teaching strategies and use ongoing formative assessment to provide feedback to all students, measure their progress, and plan differentiated learning programs to address individual student needs with a focus on progress and improvement. The ability to utilise and integrate a variety of information and technology tools and platforms to support and further student learning would be desirable.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
