About the Role
Cable Beach PS's “Mamaljan” translating to support in Yawuru, is a Department of Education endorsed Education Support program. We provide highly individualised learning for students with diagnosed disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder, (ASD), Intellectual Disability and Global Development Delay. Students are eligible to apply from outside of the local intake area which provides choice for families across Broome and the Kimberley area to support their children with special needs. Based on site we are proud to provide an inclusive environment where students are exposed to a range of different mainstream integration opportunities appropriate for their development.
The Ideal Teacher
Suitable applicants will ideally have expertise in planning and delivering individual student and evidence-based programs to ensure Individual Education Plan (IEP) objectives are achieved, as well as advanced skills in developing and implementing effective Behaviour Support Plans and strategies for students with a diverse range of co-morbid disabilities, complex communication needs and challenging behaviour. Plans outline functional curriculum objectives and support the whole child through targeted social-emotional skills, life skills and Protective Behaviours curriculum. Knowledge of Special Education Need Reporting To Parents (SEN-RTP), Abilities Based Learning Education, Western Australia (ABLEWA), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Visuals and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is highly desirable.
Suitable applicants will ideally have effective interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with others and lead a team of Education Assistants working in support roles. The successful applicant will ideally have the capacity to work effectively with students, teachers and wider community to ensure rigour, resilience and pride, allowing students to achieve to their full potential and flourish.
Suitable applicants should be genuine innovators that are prepared to be flexible. Teachers should have the ability to look beyond behaviour to identify the function. Ability to consistently collect and analyse behaviour data is highly desirable. Cable Beach Education Support utilise Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communications Handicapped Children (TEACCH) and principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to shape behaviour and support independence.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
