This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2022.
Darling Range Sports College (SC) is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Health and Physical Education – AFL Teacher.
Darling Range SC has a successful high profile specialist sports program with a significant public image and requires a teacher who will be capable of creating high quality, effective teaching and learning experiences for students and ideally have experience delivering AFL programs. It is desirable that the successful applicant have or be working towards their AFL Australia Intermediate Coaching accreditation and have in some capacity actively participated in their chosen sport. This role does entail after hours’ commitment to coaching, competition and interstate / international student tours.
The successful applicant will ideally establish strong partnerships with parents and sporting associations at both local and state level. You should have strong communication and organisational skills, as well as the ability to be reflective of yourself and your practice.
Part of this role requires travel, applicants who hold a bus licence or are willing to obtain one are encouraged to apply.
A major focus of the College is also the implementation of Explicit Instruction across all learning areas. Experience using Explicit Instruction, whilst not a pre-requisite, will be highly valued. You should be willing to incorporate this into your teaching practice and lead Explicit Instruction within the learning area.
Darling Range SC provides sporting programs in AFL, Athletics, Baseball, Basketball, Netball, Soccer, Swimming, Triathlon and Rugby. Complementing our sporting programs are extensive opportunities to participate in the Academic Challenge and Enrichment Program ‘ACES’, the Music Program, the Vocational Educational Program and the Arts Program.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
