Nedlands PS is seeking to appoint a friendly and professional Associate Principal – Teaching & Learning to join their team.
Reportable to the Principal, the Associate Principal – Teaching & Learning is a key member of the School’s Strategic Leadership Team and is responsible for leading innovative, student-centred learning and teaching across the School. The Associate Principal – Teaching & Learning will in work in partnership with the Associate Principal – Student Wellbeing and other School leaders to achieve the School’s Purpose and strategic priorities in line with the Nedlands Primary School (PS) Business Plan 2020 – 2023 and current school foci.
This position requires critical thinking, a continual improvement mindset and the ability to inspire and motivate others. This is an influencer role which requires working across all areas of the School and modelling thinking outside of traditional boundaries. To support strategic education initiatives and build upon current capabilities, the successful candidate will build connection and community amongst teaching staff to develop teaching programs that equally value the development of core competencies, interpersonal connections, academic outcomes and student wellbeing. The Associate Principal – Teaching & Learning will leverage a deep understanding of future-focused education and significant expertise in education to inspire, guide, model and lead excellence to develop a strong and visionary learning culture.
The ability to provide support in the area of Student Support Services is another highly desirable part of the role.
In summary, the successful candidate should ideally:
- Have the proven capacity to lead, motivate, and inspire teachers to learn and to lead learning, bringing innovation and vision to life and encouraging a culture of innovation, professionalism and collaboration.
- Articulate a clear educational vision and display passion for the development of an educational approach that meets the needs of all students.
- Proven track record in leading and driving sustainable change through High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS), lesson structure and delivery, and current whole school programs.
- Be expert at undertaking research, be able to think and plan strategically, form and carry out action plans, and evaluate outcomes.
- Have exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills and an open, collegial and consultative style.
- Adopt a strengths-based approach in leading and supporting teachers of students with special needs
- Have experience in building and maintaining a case management approach involving parents, teachers, support staff, school psychologist, chaplain and any other Department of Education or external agency that can assist students to progress in their learning.
- Display Learning Technologies problem solving skills, looking to overcome challenges and planning for future needs in the support of learning.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. - High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
