Can you inspire a passion for lifelong learning in our students?
Dowerin District High School (DHS) are seeking to establish a pool of Primary Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.
The successful applicants will be required to work collaboratively with all school staff to foster and build whole school practices and expectations while promoting, modelling and maintaining high expectations. The school is currently undertaking the Excellence in the Explicit Teaching of Literacy Internship and is also a Regional Teacher Development School for Mathematics and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), so knowledge and application of explicit teaching practices, problem based learning and the integration of technology to promote student learning and engagement will be highly desired.
Successful applicants should build positive and productive relationships with students, parents and the wider community. They will ideally be dedicated to raising the literacy and numeracy standard of all students and foster the development of a positive classroom environment through clear and consistent expectations, and the active building of positive social and emotional skills. Teachers will adopt high impact and engaging teaching strategies and use a variety of assessments to inform progress, enable constructive feedback and drive future planning at a class and school level.
To the right applicant, Dowerin DHS provides an exceptional platform for professional growth and leadership opportunities. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with our enthusiastic and capable staff who consistently make admirable use of excellent resources and strong community links to deliver an engaging and varied curriculum in a supportive and safe environment.
All classes are well equipped with interactive whiteboards and 1:1 computers from Year 3 to 10. A bank of iPads, a variety of technology resources, kitchen garden and specialist learning areas go further to facilitate innovative learning programs, and the grounds of the school provide an excellent space for learning and play. Small classes, excellent behaviour and a supportive wheatbelt community, which is not too far from Perth, make this a great place to teach and live.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.
Applications will be assessed against these domains. The business needs of the school may also be considered. It is therefore recommended that you consider all information contained in the advertisement and any other related information before applying for the vacancy.
Applicants currently completing the Department of Education Leap program (formerly known as the Switch program) can apply for vacancies using their current or Leap qualification – even if they have not completed the program at the time of applying. Applicants may be appointed to a vacancy based on the qualification being completed via the Leap program.
The Department is an equal opportunity employer and encourages people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and persons from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.
