Toodyay District High School (DHS) is seeking a motivated and engaging Health and Physical Education Teacher to join their friendly and supportive team.
The successful applicant will ideally be able to work and teach in a team environment, be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives and have a strong evidence based teaching approach. We are seeking applicants who can create a learning environment that is differentiated, challenging, caring and creative and that caters for the range of needs so all students may achieve and progress.
The successful applicant will possess understanding and professional knowledge relevant to the Health and Physical Education curriculum and have experience in outdoor activity pursuits to support secondary learning programs. This role is primarily teaching outside of the classroom and will require strong organisational skills to organise both school and interschool carnivals in athletics and swimming, while also attending various secondary camps as part of the part of the SES Cadet program. A willingness to gain the necessary certification, if required, is desirable.

Toodyay DHS, 85kms east of Perth, Western Australia, in the historic Avon Valley caters for Kindergarten to Year 10 students. Our specialist teachers in Secondary School deliver a diverse curriculum, enabling students to successfully proceed to Senior Schooling.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
